Dear Madam, dear Sir,
Museum Tinguely AHOY! – Museum Tinguely is cruising across Europe all summer long. With over 400 visitors on the barge and a great audience for the performances at Centre Pompidou, the start in Paris was a success. On Tuesday, the barge set off on its second leg and is currently on its way to Antwerp, where it welcomes the Belgian public to visit this extraordinary project from 28 to 29 July.
With its spectacular Schwimmwasserplastik on deck, the converted barge will be visiting eleven travel stations in Europe and at each of them teaming up with local partner institutions to offer a wide-ranging two-day programme of events comprising an exhibition, various educational activities and performances by contemporary artists.

The performance programme premiered in Paris last Saturday, 17 July. Museum Tinguely AHOY! is flanked by a diverse, high-calibre performance programme comprising three new performances. This is the programme with which we will put in a guest appearance at a local partner institution on one of the two days we spend there. Three performance artists of international renown, Nevin Aladağ (DE), Keren Cytter (IS) and Marie-Caroline Hominal (CH) have each prepared a new piece specially for the project. Rooted in different fields ranging from music to theatre and dance, their works showcase an array of different performance techniques. In this respect they recall the many-facetted performance practices of Jean Tinguely himself, as well as the blending of art and life that he so famously aspired to.
Last Saturday it was the Centre Pompidou, as one of our three partner institutions in Paris beside Rmn - Grand Palais and La Villette, that played host to the pieces by Nevin Aladağ, Keren Cytter and Marie-Caroline Hominal. «Body Instruments», the piece by Nevin Aladağ that addresses the notion of public space, had premiered on the quayside where the MS Evolutie was moored earlier that afternoon.
