The Cost of Life. A perspective on health by Paddy Hartley
(13 October 2021 – 23 January 2022)

Museum Tinguely cordially invites you to the media preview
on Tuesday, 12 October 2021 at 10 am at Museum Tinguely in Basel.

You will be welcomed to the press preview by:
Roland Wetzel, Director of Museum Tinguely
Philippe Wanner, Director of Pharmaziemuseum
Alexander Bieri, curator of the exhibition

The artist will be present. The exhibition will be open for your exclusive viewing as of 9:30 am.

British artist Paddy Hartley is best known for his art works made of ceramic. «The Cost of Life. A perspective on health by Paddy Hartley» at Museum Tinguely and at the University of Basel's Pharmacy Museum is not only the first ever presentation of his works in Switzerland but it also positions them in a very specific context. The notion of ‘cost of life’ is strongly related to that of risk, a central theme in medicine and research. Both concepts play a key role in the work of Paddy Hartley, which is why Roche commissioned him with an exhibition to mark its 125th anniversary. Museum Tinguely’s presentation of selected objects and photographs by Hartley that is to run from 13 October 2021 to 23 January 2022 will be paralleled by an intervention embedded in the permanent collection of the Pharmacy Museum.

Following the guided tour of the exhibition in Museum Tinguely, we cordially invite you to visit the intervention in the Pharmacy Museum together with the curator and the artist.

For further details on the exhibition, please see the attached press release. Press photos are available online.

We would be grateful if you would confirm your intention to attend the press preview by 10 October. Museum Tinguely is subject to the Covid certificate requirement. Therefore, we ask you to present your certificate and your identity card at the entrance.

You are also cordially invited to attend the official opening of the exhibition at 6:30 pm on that same day. We are at your disposal should you require further information.
