Following artists will be present: Anca Benera & Arnold Estefán, Eric Hattan, Diana Lelonek, Romy Rüegger, Tuur Van Balen, Raul Walch and Pinar Yoldaş
The media preview will take place mainly in German.
The show presents perspectives of contemporary artists who take as their subject the ecological, geological, and global consequences of our consumerism, and juxtaposes them with iconic works of the 1960s and 1970s. The twenty-five artistic perspectives presented, including those of Julien Creuzet, Agnes Denes, and Hira Nabi, address those impacts of our production of goods and waste that are normally hidden from view. While some works focus on the waste generated in other countries or on the pollution of the environment, Romy Rüegger and Eric Hattan are among those to present new works that are of direct relevance to the Basel context. The exhibition’s starting point is the present, as exemplified by installations, videos, sculptures, photographs, and performances, while a selection of historical works proves that pollution and the environmental devastation was a concern of artists even already since the 1960s.

The exhibition will be open for your exclusive viewing as of 10 am.
A bilingual (German/English) publication will be released in conjunction with the exhibition. It can be downloaded for free on our website from September 13 onwards.
