Argentine-born guitarist Hernan Romero comes to Basel for the first time. The great virtuoso already played with Al Di Meola, Paco De Lucia and John Mc Laughlin years ago. Romero won his first Grammy in 2012, his Emmy in 2021 and was Grammy-nominated again in 2021. Romero's guitar playing is noticeably influenced by flamenco and Latin music, and his creativity and joy of playing have been inspiring half the world for years.

Born in 1982 in Faro/Portugal, pianist and composer Júlio Resende is today one of the internationally leading Portuguese musicians and pioneer of a new genre called "fado jazz". He translates the bittersweet "blues", but also the cheerful side of fado music into the language of jazz. A true pioneer in this field, Resende is already an established artist in his home country, filling classical concert halls and collaborating with international stars such as the fado singer Amália Rodrigues or in duo with the classical pianist Maria João Pires. Now, in spring 2022, a production was released for the first time on the renowned jazz label ACT with the simple title "Fado Jazz". The critic of the Spanish newspaper El País recently put it in a simple denominator: "What Júlio Resende does with fado reminds me of what Keith Jarrett does with jazz standards." We can be very curious!
