Roche 'n' Jazz: Romy Brauteseth Quartet

in cooperation with the bird's eye jazz club
in cooperation with the Centre for African Studies

Costs: museum admission

An exploration of the unknown. The outstanding bassist Romy Brauteseth is an integral part of the South African jazz scene. The much-sought-after bassist has been heard as a strong and sensitive accompanist in Switzerland on several occasions, impressing her audience. In this project, she is on stage for the first time as a lead musician. Joining from South Africa are the trumpeter Marcus Wyatt and percussionist Siphiwe Shiburi, who is to be heard for the first time in Switzerland, supported by the Swiss bassist Raffaele Bossard, who has already repeatedly worked with South African musicians and has a great sensitivity for their musical expression.
For the Outline project, Romy Brauteseth has written compositions that move within a sketched outline and leave a lot of room for maneuver tonally. In their unconventional quartet line up, electronic effects expand both the spectrum of Marcus Wyatt's horns and Romy Brauteseth's bass with their dark and soft sound, carried by Siphiwe Shiburi's imaginatively played drums and Raffaele Bossard's grooving bass.

Line up
Marcus Wyatt, trumpet and flugelhorn, pedals
Romy Brauteseth, double bass, pedals
Raffaele Bosshard, double bass
Siphiwe Shiburi, drums
