US saxophonist Nicole McCabe’s multifaceted sound is soaked with both sensitive elegance and the inspiring energy of hard bop. At times demanding, then gentle again, with a beautiful, slow vibrato, her music delights listeners with its melodic sensitivity and radiant expressiveness. Yvonne Rogers provides the accompaniment, full of sparkling runs that intertwine delicately around the melody. Logan Kane supports the dense atmosphere with his warm bass, and Myles Martin provides the perfect rhythmic underpinning for this enthralling concert. The music radiates depth, forward drive and shining joie de vivre all at the same time.
