Roche 'n' Jazz: Daymé Arocena

in cooperation with the bird's eye jazz club
Costs: museum admission

Engaging Latin jazz with influences from neo-Soul, Afro-Caribbean rhythms and modern pop.

The award-winning African-Cuban singer Daymé Arocena is a strong, charismatic voice in the contemporary Latin pop and jazz scene. Her warm, soulful voice immediately makes you listen and fascinates you with a
dynamic phrasing that is strongly influenced by her Afro-Cuban roots. Her virtuosic scats in the tradition of jazz improvisations are just as impressive as her broad, stripped-out Legato sounds, allowing the soul to rest. She celebrates the roots and ongoing development of Latin jazz and at the same time inspires with her openness and sensitivity to contemporary musical forms.
