Lecture by artist Mierle Laderman Ukeles followed by a conversation with Elise Lammer and Dr. Sandra Beate Reimann (in English).
Mierle Ladermann Ukeles, whose works can be seen in our current exhibition Territories of Waste, has been attracting a lot of attention with her feminist art projects and performances since the 1970s. A recurring theme in her works is the importance of care and maintenance work, the systemic relevance of which she emphasised early on.

Territories of Waste. On the Return of the Repressed

The entire ecosphere – the oceans, the air, our food, the soil, even the Antarctic – contains residues, particles and chemicals derived from our consumer culture. The extraction of raw materials leaves behind destroyed landscapes and toxic spoil. Waste is everywhere.
