Taro Izumi, Cloud (king), 2020

Taro Izumi’s work plays with the invisible, the absent, while reacting to the present situation. In Cloud (king) the artist presents a long-extinct animal, the first known mammal. He films the exhibition from the perspective of this little mouse, known as the “obscure” or “invisible king”. However, the numerous videos are not shown in the exhibition, but rather on the Museum Tinguely website. QR codes are spread around the exhibition itself, but these only provide abstract text fragments from conversations with experts who were invited to speculate on what the museum would look like today from the perspective of these extinct animals.
